TOWN BAND BENEFIT.
A benefit entertainment was given in the local Town Hall on Friday evening by the proprietor of the Princess Pictures in aid of the Town Band. Owing to the boisterous weather the attendance was not so large as it otherwise would have been. The members of the band assembled in the main street, and, under Bandmaster Newsome, played several selections, after which they proceeded to the hall, accompanied by the members of the Fire Brigade, who were in charge of the torches. The programme of films submitted was an excellent one, and included the star picture "Zigomar"and other first-class dramas.
Mr W. F. Stewart (president of the band), on behalf of the townspeople and members of the band, thanked Mr Zainey for his kindness in assisting the band, and trusted that he would receive that support from the public which such kindness merited.
Mr Zainey said he was only too willing to assist the band, and regretted that the weather had been so unfavourable,~thus keeping many away who would otherwise have been present.
