HOCKEY.
A committee meeting of the Te Awamutu Hockey Club was held in Spears' Cosmopolitan Club Room on Friday, May 2. Present Messrs Empson (chairman), Bonner, Johns, Douglas, Parker, Taylor, and the secretary. Challenges were received from the Te Kuiti and Akarana (Auckland) clubs, asking that matches be arranged for June 3rd (King's Birthday). It was agreed to accept the challenge from the Akarana club, the match to be played in Te Awamutu. It was resolved that a match be played with Paterangi, on Wednesday, 7th inst., on the local ground. It was decided to enter two teams to compete for Mr S. A. Empson's Cup, and Mr W. Norden's Medals. The following are the teams : Shamrocks (colours, red and white)—N. Ahier, J. Clotworthy, W. Douglas, L. Davis, J. Duncan, A. Finch, R. Griffith, E. Jack, E. Knight, L. North, A. Robinson F. Rochport, M. Soloman, T. Stewart, F. Shepherd, G. Taylor, E. Warner, S. A. Empson. Waratahs (blue and white)— R. Andrew, P. Burrows, W. Bonner, L. Alright, C. Davis, T. Davis, C. Edwards, W Fowler, B. Griffith, W. Johns, Livingstone, E. Moeller, W. McGivern, G. Norden, T. Parker, Dr Reekie, C. Sutherland, C. Vile. Any new player which the committee thinks fit will be allotted to the team.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mr E. Moeller for his donation of twelve jerseys to the club. The following team will represent Te Awamutu against Paterangi on Wednesday: —Shepherd, Edwards, Parker, Sutherland, Solomon, Duncan, Jack, Taylor, L. North, Bonner, F. North. Emergencies Knight, Johns, Douglas. The following players were chosen to play against the ladies' club on Wednesday (players to appear in fancy dress): —Finch, Stewart, Warner, Norden, Andrew Moeller, N. Ahier, L. Davis, D. Griffith, Fowler, and Knight.
