VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
A committee meeting of the above brigade was held on Saturday evening,-there being present Captain Bickcrstaff (chairman), Lieutenant Amor, Fireman Haselden, and A. C. Edwards (secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The secretarj' was instructed to write offering the Taumarunui Fire Brigade £5 for three hand pumps.
The secretary was also instructed to purchase three chemical fire extinguishers from Mr C. Kelley, Te Mawhai, who is sole agent for New Zealand. Permission was granted by Mr Lenehan to erect a bucket stand at his work shop, which offer was accepted with thanks. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Lenehan thanking him for his offer.
The Town Board wrote giving the brigade authority to place firemen at the Town Hall for both public and private entertainments. It will be the duty of the firemen to prevent smoking in any part of the hall and to keep a sharp look-out for fire.
