PIRONGIA.

There was a fair attendance at Friday's concert and dance in aid of the new Town Hall, but not so large as the excellence of the programme and the worthiness of the cause called for. The various items were well received and numerous encores demanded. Miss Valerie Collin's songs were, of course, the star events, and her beautiful voice was heard to considerable advantage. Killarney was undoubtedly, the best and was received with vociferous applause. Mr H. Madinson Cardon's elocutionary efforts were much appreciated, particularly the comic item " Wot vur do ee luv Oi." Mrs McCarthy very kindly played all the accompaniments. The following is a list of the items rendered:—"Alia Stella Confidente," Philosophy," "Red Rose-Bud." "Mv Treasure," "Ave Maria," "I Couldn't, Could I?" "Killarney," "Home, Sweet Home" (Miss Valerie Collins); "Perfect Day," (Mrs Andrew); " The Skipper," The Romany Lass," "The Song of Sleep," (Mr E. Parker); "The Trumpeter," "Three for Jack,' (Mr A. G. Warburton); Recitations " Wot vur "do ee luv Oi,' " The Game of Cards," " The Same Old Game," "The Greei Eye of the Yellow God," "Com ing Home," "Oh Memory," (M H. Madinson Cafdon); violii solo "II Trovatore (Mr E Moeller); violin duet " Summer' Dream," (Messrs Moeller an> Gilbert).
