YOUNG MEN’S INSTITUTE.

A committee meeting of the above institute was held in Mr Empson’s rooms last night, the following members being present: —The Rev. F. W. Clarke (chairman), Dr Reekie, Messrs Empson, Cox, Cruickshank, Johns and Chester.

The plans drawn up by the architect (Mr de Riddsr), were considered, and after some discussion it was resolved that shops be erected in ferro-concrete in accordance with a modification of plan No. 1., such modification to be decided by a special building committee consisting of Messrs Cruickshank, Empson and Dr Reekie. A finance committee consisting of Messrs Cox, Blennerhasselt and Johns was appointed to arrange for the raising of funds necessary for building purposes.

Mr E. A. Cox was appointed solicitor to the Institute, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr de Ridder for his work in drawing up plans.
