PIRONGIA.

(Own Correspondent)

A public meeting was convened here on Friday to consider •' the advisability of holding sports on Boxing Day, 26th December. It was pointed out that the Alexandra Racing Club had decided not to hold their usual meeting this year owing to the' grounds being not available, and it was thought that some public entertainment should be held to take its place. After some discussion it’was resolved that public sports be held and the necessary officials were appointed, several trophies being donated. A concert and dance will be held in the evening - in aid of the hall piano fund to which the surplus (if any) from the sports will also be devoted.
