EXPORT OF EGGS.
TRIAL SHIPMENT TO VANCOUVER. * With the object of testing outside markets in order to relieve the local markets when they are over-supplied, and also to discover the best means of shipping eggs abroad, the Department of Agriculture has made a trial shipment of eggs to Vancouver. The consignment comprised eight cases, each/i containing £3O dozen eggs. Two cases consisted of eggs packed in cardboard fiillers, two cases of eggs sterilized by the cabinet system, two cases chilled eggs, (one case having been in cool store at a temper-: ature of 33 degrees Fall, for a month, and the other having been held at a like temperature for ten days), one case packed in husks, and one case of sterilised eggs packed in husks. The eggs will be disposed of,under the supervision of the New Zealand Trade Commissioner in British Columbia, who is to report fully to the Department on the experiment. The eggs are being carried at temperatures between 33 and 34 degrees Fah., and a daily record is being kept of the temperature of the chamber on the steamer.
