WHAREPUHANGA.
(Own Correspondent.)
The district has sustained a very severe loss in the departure qf Mr and Mrs F. R. Gibson for Auckland. For the past nine or ten years Mr Gibson has been the prime mover in everything pertaining to the welfare of Wharepuhanga, and the hospitality provided by the Gibson
household fqr all and sundry has for years been'u proverb. It was only fitting that on the occasion of their leaving the district some recognition should have been made of Mr and Mrs Gibson’s unfailing kindness to all with whom they came in contact, and on Saturday evening, October 19, a very large number of friends assembled at Mr Benson’s residence to bid them farewell. In a few very well chosen remarks Mr E. J. Walters presented a gold albert to Mr Gibson and a silver tea and coffee service to Mrs Gibson, at the same time reading an address signed by all present, expressive of the sincere regret felt at their departure, and wishing them every happiness in j their new home. Mr Gibson suit- \ ably replied on behalf of Mrs] Gibson and himself. Numerous toasts were honoured including that of the district and dairying industry, and the evening concluded with a very ' hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Benson for providing their house for holding the farewell in.
