KIHIKIHI.

On Thursday evening Mr Geo. Rigg was presented with a saddle as a parting gift from his friends in and around Kihikihi. Although notice of Mr Rigg's departure was very short, a large number assembled in the Town Hall, wjhere Mr Grace made the presentation. On behalf of those present he congratulated their guest upon receiving his well earned promotion to the position of " Inspector" in the ,: Rabbit Poisoning Department:" Mr Rigg has been associated with this district for over thirty years, during the last fifteen of which he had been connected with the. Department of Agriculture, and'his present promotion is in the opinion of Kihikihi residents a well deserved one. In earlier times he was a well known Captain in the volunteers. Mr Grace expressed his great pleasure in handing Mr Rigg'such a useful and handsome gift, which would not only serve as a reminder of his old friends, but be of the greatest use to him in his new sphere where he felt sure Mr Rigg would be most successful. Others present also expressed their v good wishes and congratulated Mr Rigg on his promotion. Mr Rigg suitably responded, thanking all friends for their handsome gift and sincere wishes. An adjournment to the supper room was then made, where a smoke concert was held.
