PIRONGIA.
(Own Correspondent.)
The library social took place last Friday and there was a fairly large attendance. The proceedings opened with a piano solo by Mrs McCarthy, followed by the " Armourer's Song " by Mr Butler (from *Jew York) who took the audience by storm, his lovely voice being heard to considerable advantage. Mr Kay was in fine form as also were Messrs James and Godfrey. Apologies were received from others who were to contribute items, but had been unable to attend. Mr S. Chalmers made an efficient M.C. for the dancing which was kept up until the early hours. Music was supplied by Mrs McCarthy, Miss Aubin, Miss McLeod, and Messrs Reynolds and Grant.
Pirongia has another resident in Mr Beattie who has purchased a two hundred acre section on the .mountain. Mr Beattie is starting straight away to fall bush.
