The application forwarded through the Hairini Branch N.ZJT.U. to the PostmasterGeneral, asking that the local post office be constituted a money 'order office has, at last, been favourably considered. At first the requirements as detailed by the Department, viz., extra accommodation, iron safe, etc., etc., to be provided locally before the application could be granted, seemed a wet. blanket on the scheme, but when it was. shown that so far the Hairini settlers hed almost entirely provided the necessary ways and means for the existing post office building and that those who helped themselves were deserving of help, then red tape went bung. So before long we shall be able to congratulate ourselves on possessing an up-to-date post and money - order office.. Another feather in the cap of unionism —not red Feds.! '
