WAIPA GUN CLUB.

A general meeting of the above club took place in the Cosmopolitan club room last night about twenty members being present. The chair was taken by the president, Mr Christian. The invitation of the president of the Bowling Club to be present at the opening day on 2nd October was received with applause. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The balance sheet, showing receipts £22 7s 3d, with balance in hand of £7 12s iod, was approved. The following new members were elected : —Messrs H. J. Jones F. MacConkey, R. B. Brown, and T. Bond. It was resolved that a 10-bird match be held on 9th October under the following conditions : The prize to be a £5 5s bracelet inscribed with the words “ Presented by the Waipa Gun Club.” Every competitor to be nominated by a lady. Entrance fee 2s 6d. Nominations to close on Saturday, sth October, and handicaps to appear in the issue of the Waipa Post of October Bth. Match to start at 2 p.m. Anyone having no chance at the time of shooting for the eighth bird to be asked to withdraw. Two traps to be used, and both screened. The secretary was instructed to wait on Mrs Collins and Miss B. Alexander, and request them to choose the bracelet on behalf of the club.

The following were appointed a sub-committee to go into the question of refreshments, and report to the next meeting : —Messrs Benzie, Daking, and Wheeler. Mr J. Pollard, senr v was made an honorary life member of the club. Mr Harold Williams was appointed as honorary auditor.

The date of the next committee meeting was fixed for Thursday, September 26th.

Mr Geo. Paul’s account was passed for payment. The meeting closed with the presentation by the president of Mr Wheeler’s trophy to Mr Pettley, the winner of the second prize on the opening day.
