SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the school committee , was held in ' the Public Library last evening. Messrs W. F. Stewart, W. von Stunner, G. Spinley, Dr. Henderson, and the Revs. Clarke (chair) and Woollass, being present. An apology was received from Mr A. Wallace. A letter was received from Mr E. A. Cox in reference to the trees on the boundary of the new section secured for school purposes. Mr Cox asked for permission to cut the trees down. After considerable discussion it was resolved to appoint Messrs von Sturmer and A. Wallace a sub-committee with power to act in the matter.

The secretary reported that a plan of the new school site had been prepared by MrMclvor, surveyor, and the matte.- of getting the transaction completed was being pushed forward. . The Headmaster submitted a report on the work of the school staff for the half year, which showed that excellent work had been clone by all the teachers. It was resolved to send a letter of appreciation of the work of Mr E. Clarke to the Education Board.

The Headmaster's request for a grant of £3 for requisites for gardening purposes was granted
