The Feilding A. and P. Association recently discussed the question of providing green feed for show stock. The charge per feed is to be lowered from 6d to 3d, it being unwise to give the feed free. Mr J. Knight offered an acre of lucerne, and the president offered to plough and sow in rye and clover an acre near the showgrounds, the use of which Mr Eliott had offered. These crops will be cut to provide the feed required. Referring at the annual meeting of the Jersey Breeders’ Association to the matter of judging on score-cards, the chairman said the council had made inquiries on the question of scorecards, and had found that where the system had been tried it had been found unworkable.
The Fielding A. and P. Association has been offered the championships for ram and ewe by the - New Zealand Romney Marsh Sheepbreeders’ Association. At the meeting of the committee last week the offer was accepted, and a vote of thanks accorded the association. The first recorded shipment of butter from Australia to London since the beginning of the 19121913 export season on July I, says the Melbourne Age, of July 11, comprised a consignment of 100 cases, equal to 2% tons, which wei-e forwarded from Brisbane by the steamer Persic. There have, of course;' been shipments to Eastern ports, business in that direction proceeding nowadays practically without any inter-seasonable break. The
general expectation appears to be that a serious start with exportations to the United Kingdom is not very probable earlier than September next, although with mild climatic conditions and an early spring, it may be found possible to dispatch limited quantities late next month.
