The weather for the.last week or two has been damp and very mild, and the grass is beginning to make a slight growth. There are some splendid crops of turnips here, and everyone has an abundance of feed. A few calves
have already made their appearance, and the district is so far free from the dreaded abortion among dairy herds; The great annoyance here is the road, which is really in a disgraceful condition, and indeed is rapidly becoming impassable in
places. It has never been worse during the last nine years. Several changes have taken place lately. Mr Thomson has sold his farm to Mr O’Neil, of Matangi, and MrHolbeche a section to another purchaser. Messrs Hall and Robinson have had a change in milking families. The school was the scene of a pleasant function the other day, when tbe sewing scholars pre-
sented their departing sewing mistress, Miss M. Thomson with some pieces of silver as a momento of their esteem. In return Miss Thomson presented each girl with a silver thimble.
