TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held in the offices of the Board yesterday afternoon, the following members being present: —Mr C. Bowden (chairman), 'A. Wallace, and S. Mathews.
The minutes of the previous monthly meeting on 14th June, the special meeting on 24th June, the public meeting in the Town Hall on Ist July, and the adjourned meeting of 4th July were read and confirmed. Crossings.
A deputation (Messrs Christian and Lawson) from the inhabitants of Roach Street was received asking the Board to give them a crossing and improve the footpath.
After some discussion it was moved by Mr Wallace and seconded by the chairman, that Mr By grave be instructed to keep the main crossing as clean as possible until the Board could put down a limestone crossing as it was impossible to obtain metal o -ving to the fire in the Te Kuiti works.
Ihe Board afterwards inspected the footpaths, and decided that a little sand be put on th'J footpath near Edward's shop. Outward Correspondence.
This was read and approved. Proposed Borough Boundaries. Mr Mathews gave notice of his intention to move at the next meeting of the Board that the proposed boundary at the south side be altered. Footpaths.
The chairman announced that a start had been made with the formation.of the continuation of the footpath in Bank Street. It was moved by Mr Mathews and seconded by Mr Wallace that Mr Bygrave be instructed to see to the footpath leading to Dr. Henderson's private residence and clean the pipes. Reference was made to a paragraph in the WAIPA POST as to conditijn of the road at Dr. Henderson's surgery, and it was pointed-out that this road belonged to the County Council, and the Beard regretted that it was not possible for them to do anything in the matter. Roads. It was moved by Mr Mathews and seconded by the chairman that Park Road be reformed and widened during the coming spring ; that road to the Puniu within the town district be reformed and graded ; that Carlton Street receive attention before the removal of the grader; and also that the middle road near the old mill be graded and sanded.
It was decided to order one truck of Otorohanga gravel and 20 barrels of tar.
Proposed Visit of Ministers
Mr Mathews moved that Mr Young be asked to arrange for the attendance of Ministers in Te Awamutu at the close of the present session to open the Post Office and new bridge. Engineer.
A letter was read from Mr O. Mansfield, late engineer Wanganui, offering his services re water and sewerage woiks. As nothing in this way can be done until after the necessary steps have been taken in connection with the raising of the loan,,the letter was simply received. Drainage Reserve.
Application was made by Mr Warburton to have some filling done on the footpath in front of his section, to the cost of which he was prepared to contribute one half. —It was decided to do this work provided that Mr Heerdegen would contribute his share of the expense, so as to make a complete job of such filling. Finance. The clerk announced that the bank overdraft stood at £135. Tfe chairman gave notice of his intention to move that a general rate of id in the £ be made and levied on the rateable value of all rateable property in the town district for the current year. Accounts. The following accounts were passed for payment: —Bygrave, £lB 14s ; Merry weather, £1 12s; W. Teddy and Sons, 18s; Peate and Teddy, 15s; Interest on Puniu Bridge, £5 8s 6d ; Ahier, 5s 9d; Bickerstaff, 15s; Christian, 14s ; A.
