The annnal fixture between teams representing the Hamilton and Waipa Rugby Unions took place at Bockett’s paddock- on Saturday, when there was a large attendance of spectators. . Waipa won- the toss and decided to play with the wind. For the first quarter of an hour play was confined to the forwards. * From a mark in Hamilton’s 25, Maunder had a shot at goal, and succeeded in registering first score for the home team. After changing ends the Hamilton team livened up, and as the result of good play Davis succeeded in crossing the line. Smith failed with the kick.
Waipa ... ... 3 Hamilton 3 Changing ends in the third quarter, Coburn, Henderson, I eddy, and Clifford put in some useful work, and from the lineout Teddy secured the ball and crossed the line, but was forced back. Shortly after Beatty scored for Waipa. attempt was unsuccessful.
On changing ends the play became very fast, and from the line-out Hamilton got the ball,’ which ended in Fake registering another try for the visitors, the game ending—
Hamilton ... 6 Waipa ... g Kay, Coburn, Teddy, Thomson and Clifford played well for the local team, while Fear, Fake, Smith, Cook and Mclntyre were most prominent for Hamilton. Mr S. C. Macky gave every satisfaction as referee. JUNIORS. A match between the two junior teams of the Waipa Union took place prior to the WaipaHamilton match, resulting in a draw, 3 points each.
