KIHIKIHI TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Wednesday afternoon. Messrs Mackinder, Moody and Thomson were present. In the absence of the chairman Mr Moody was voted to the chair.
The clerk reported a credit balance in the Bank of New Zealand of £126 7s 3d. The balance-sheet as credited was accepted. Correspondence was received from Mr J. H. Day re water from street flooding his property —It was decided to attend to this matter as soon as weather permits. In reference to correspondence from the Kihikihi Literary and Debating Society it was decided to rescind the resolution of former meeting and fix the charge for use of supper-room at 2s per night, with use of lights. A reply was received from the Public Works Department re the loan of £4OO for the purpose of metalling Lion Street. A promise was given to see into the matter.
One tender only that of Messrs Verner and Rysdale was received for the work of clearing fern and noxious weeds on lot 403. It was decided that by-laws similar to those in Te Awamutu be brought into force at once. A couple of accounts amounting to £io 4s iod were ordered to be paid. Orders were given to sue for all rates not yet paid. It was resolved to prosecute any person taking acacia from lot 293, and to put up a notice to that effect. r
Mr Thomson’s proposal to raise the rates by Id in the pound was carried.
