KIHIKIHI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The first meeting of the newlyelected school committee was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. All ths members were present. ' Mr A. McCardle was accorded a vote of thanks for his services as chairman of householders meeting.
In answer to a communication from the Education Board, the secretary was authorised to inform the Board that only householders voted, and that the recent meeting of householders was conducted in a thoroughly legal manner It was further decided to ask Mr A. McArdle and Mr J. G. Elmsly, chairman and scrutineer respectively at the recent meeting, to also inform the Board as to the legality of the proceedings. One tender was received for the lighting of the school fires, but the committee decided to leave this and the matter of the cleaning of the school to the head teacher to deal with.
In response to a letter received from Mr A. Perry referring to damages to school property, the committee agreed to visit the school on Wednesday afternoon and decide upon the necessary repairs.
The secretary reported a credit in the bank of £8 9s 3d, on April 30th; allowance to school fund, quarter ending June 1912, £5 8s 3d: special additional grant for year, 1912, £3 Is.
A letter was received from the Education Board stating that Section 22 has now been purchased from Mr Cook, and is now in the Board's possession. The committee decided to meet monthly on the first Wednesday nearest the full moon. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
