KIHIKIHI.
[Own Correspondent.]
Easter Monday was a very quiet day in Kihikihi, the closed business places giving the town quite a deserted appearance. In the evening a large audience was present at Messrs Lloyd Bros.’ weekly kinematograph performance. Mr Bedford and family very kindly provided the musical portion qf the Rrqgfamme,' and
their orchestral selectjoqs were warmly welcomed. On Tuesday last Mrs Mary Sullivan died at the residence of her daughter, Miss Donovan. The deceased lady was a resident of Rosscarbery, Ireland, and came to New Zealand about twentyfour years ago. She has since then resided inKihikihi. Various members of her family have taken a prominent place in the social and business life of Kihikihi. Mrs Sullivan died at the
age of 84 years, and leaves seven surviving children, 28 grandchildren, and greqt-granq-children. Her family includes Mrs W. Corboy, Miss Donovan, Mrs W. Aulderson, and Mrs J. Verner, all of Kihikihi: Mrs E. Farrell, of Huntly ; Mr J. Sullivan, of Dannevirke ; and Mr E. Sullivan, of West Australia. Deceased was interred in the Roman Catholic cemetery at Rangiaohia, the Rev. Father Lynch officiating at the graveside. The first social of the season, given by the ladies, was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. Favoured with an ideal night nothing occurred to mar the enjoyment of the dancers, the committee having provided a perfect floor, inspiring music, and a delightful sit-down supper. Unforeseen circumstances interfered somewhat with the attendance, but nevertheless the dance was bright and enjoyable. 1
