TE AWAMUTU SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The School Committee held a special meeting on Tuesday night to talk over the question oi the proposed new school site. All the members of the committee were present; also Mr Plummer, the Board's Irispecto**wrho is making his annual visit to the district, and Mr F. Woods, Headmaster. Mr H. Y. Collins, chairman, presided. The question of change of site was very fully discussed, the suitability of two sites, viz., Edwards' section and the old cemetery reserve being fully debated. Mr Plummer was convinced as to the need of a larger site, with more playground for the children, but only having seen one of the sites, could speak only as to its suitability. After the matter had ; been very fully discussed, it was resolved to adjourn the meeting until Wednesday, and give all the members of the committee With the Inspector an opportunity of looking over both the sites. This was done on Wednesday, and after the committee had walked round Edwards' section and the cemetery reserve, it was resolved that the committee recommend the Education Board to acquire the cemetery reserve on the Teasdale Settlement for a site for the public school, the committee being of the opinion that it was the more suitable of the two for the purpose. Messrs Collins and von Stunner were appointed a deputation to bring the matter before the Town Board.
