VALEDICTORY.
MR REG. CLARK FAREWELLED.
At the Commercial Hotel last evening about 30 friends of MiReg. Clark met to say farewell on the eve of his departure from the district. Mr Clark has been associated with the firm of Davis & Clark since its inception, and during that time'has made himself- very popular with all he came in contact with. 111-health has necessitated his severing his connection with the firm, and his consequent departure from the district. The commercial room was tastefully arranged, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. In making the presentation of. a very fine bag and travelling rug, Mr E. J. French stated that those present very much regretted the necessity of having to say good-bye, and expressed the. wish that in due course Mr Clark would return to Te Awamutu. He wished him good health, prosperity, aiKPhappiness in his new sphere. Mr Clark duly responded, and in a fitting manner thanked all for the kindness shown. ' The following toasts were honoured :—" Our Guest," proposed by Mr E. J. French, responded to by Clark; " The Rudge Clycling Club," proposed by Mr Le Sueur and responded to by Mr Dwen; "The Druids and Oddfellows' Lodges," proposed by Mr Dwen and responded to by Messrs Ansell and C. Davis.; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr Ansell and responded to by Mr-Le Sueur ; .."Painters and Decorators," proposed by Mr C. Davis and responded to by Mr Amor.
During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs Douglas and Stitt, the party finally dispersing after spending a most enjoyable evening.
