VICTORIA PARK.

TO THE EDITOR..

SIR, —When the- members of -«- the Puniu Domain Board so generously expended the large sum of money they did, on the formation of the splendid bowling and croquet green and tennis courts, I, with others, was of the opinion that it was hardly fair that these three branches of sport only should be catered for. However, I kept my humble opinion in the background, when I saw what an improvement these greens made to the Park, and particularly so as an asset to the town. But seeing how little either of these exceptional gifts f. are appreciated by the respective members of these clubs, I consider it only right to make an emphatic protest that this state of things should remain so. There are numbers of other sports that would show more enthusiasm and appreciation. For instance my favourite game of quoits would go swimmingly on the winter green, or the three-quarters of the big green not used. The tennis courts would make a splendid drying ground for the ladies ~\ on washing day, and the croquet green would be the ideal thing for the children to play hopscotch or bowl hoops on. Trusting that this little letter will help _ to stir the bowlers and croquet and tennis players along, before other branches of sport make a cry for the use of the Domain; and thanking you in anticipation for the insertion of these remarks in your valuable columns. —I am, etc.,

Quoits,
