WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Waipa County Council met at Ohaupo on Tuesday. There were present: Crs J. Fisher (chairman), Allen, Macky, Alexander, Ryburn, Bryant, Teasdale, McKinder, and the supervisor(Mr W. FI. Mandeno).
Walker’s Gully
Mr Mandeno reported on the proposed work at Walker’s Gully, and said that on close inspection he found the scheme was likely to cost a great deal more than they at first anticipated. He submitted a plan showing three road lines, and asked for further instructions. —It was decided to authorise the supervisor to have the ground cleared in order that he might be able to take the levels. Accounts. The following accounts were passed for payment: —Waikato Argus lßs, J. McNaul £8 Bs, F. J. Tattley £6l ss, Wm. Taylor £2 ios, P. Coyle 6s, J. Douglas £3, D. McLean and Sons £2OO, J. Teddy gs, Waikato Times £2 I2s 6d, Morris £5, J. Jess £2 16s. J. Mawhinney £6O. Barges. The matter of hiring the county barges to Mr Tattley for I2s a week was referred to the supervisor. Removal of Clay. MrT. Libeau asked permission to remove a few loads of clay
from the bank fronting Proudlock’s property. —Granted. Te Awamutu-Cambridgc Road. Mr C. C. Buckland, on behalf of the Monavalc Ratepayers’ Association, asked the Council to effect repairs on the Te AwamutuCambridge road, passing through Monavale. He also requested the council to put a culvert in Gray’s gully. —It was decided to inform Mr Buckland that the requests would receive every consideration from the council. Dangerous Cutting. On the suggestion of Cr Teasdale it was decided to fence oft a deep cutting near the Kihikihi township. Insanitary Dwelling. The district health officer notified that he had given notice to a resident of Kihikihi of the unfitness of his dwelling as a residence, and that he had ordered its replacement or removal. Dedication of Roads. On behalf of Mrs Jackson, of Becrescourt, Mr Mac Diarmid asked the council to accept dedication of two roads through her property.- —Referred to the supervisor for his report. Te Akatea Tramway. Mr Swarbrick informed the council that the Waipa Colliery Company had paid his legal expenses in connection with the Te Akatea tramway, so that the Council would be put to no expense in the matter. It was decided to ask Mr Swarbrick if he could give any information regarding Mr Mandeno’s expenses amounting to £5. Repair?. Mrs j. Grace, Mangapiko, asked for repairs to the road on the western side of her property. — Referred to Mr Mandeno and the member for the riding. New Road. Mr J. Davis, Auckland, asked for the Council’s requirements in connection with a road which a client of his proposed to put through sections 240 and 241, Mangapiko, near the Te Awamutu railway section. —It was decided to request Mr Davis to submit plans to the Council. Road Works. The district engineer notified that the plans for metaiiing a portion of the Hamiiton-Tuhi-karamea road, also between Kihikihi and Waotu and between Te Kowlfai and Te Rapa, had been approved. Next Meeting. It was decided to hold the next meeting on February 6th, and the by-law regulating motor car traffic in the county will take effect from that date. Bridges. It was resolved that in future expenditure in connection with new bridges over 30ft span be a
charge on the bridges fund.
