TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the office of the Board yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs Chas. Bowden (chairman), G. H. White, S. Mathews, and Dr Reekie.
The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed.
Teasdale Street Footpath. It was decided to sand the above footpath immediately the work is approved by the supervisor. Alexandra Street Footpath. It was decided to form the footpath and put the water tables to the proper level in front of Mr J. B. Teasdale’s buildings; the work to be carried out to the satisfaction of the supervisor. Gas Company. Mr Blackburn wrote asking for an early reply to the proposal to instal a gas plant at Te Awamutu. —It was decided to submit the matter for discussion at a public meeting to be held on Monday next. Flail Chairs. It was decided to procure five dozen folding chairs of the approved design. Mr Warburton also mentioned that it had been recommended that several small tables be procured.—lt was decided to defer this suggestion until the next meeting. Water Supply.
Mr Munro Wilson wrote regarding the proposed water supply. He regretted the delay in furnishing a report, but pointed out that he wished to spend a few days at Pirongia in order to make a survey of the course at the Pirongia end. He asked for a few weeks’ grace in order that the proposal might be gone into fully, and an accurate report furnished. —The chairman advised the Board that he had granted the extension of time as requested.—The Board approved of the chairman’s action.
Auctioneer’s License
Messrs Lawson & Swain appliee for and were granted-an auctioneer’s license for the ensuing year.
Band Rotunda
The Minister for Internal Affairs wrote notifying the Board that the sum of £74 ids.
had been paid into the Board’s account, being the Coronation grant in connection with the erection of the band rotunda.
Electric Lighting.
W. D. Wilkinson, of Cambridge wrote suggesting an electric lighting scheme forTc Awamutu. Mr Chenery Suggate, M. Inst. C.E., wrote offering to visit Te Awamutu and give a report on an electric lighting scheme.
Verandah
It was resolved that the verandah in front of the old building in Arawliata Street be pulled down at once, as it was a danger to the public.
Buildings in Alexandra Street,
It was reported that the old building at the corner of Market and Alexandra Streets was to be removed at any day.
It was resolved to interview Mr Lyons to ascertain if he intended to move his buildings back to the proper frontage.
