TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.

A special meeting of the above Board was held in Bockett's Buildings on Thursday evening. There were present: —Messrs C. Bowden (chairman), G. H. White, S. Mathews, A. S. Wallace and Dr. Reekie. The minutes of the former meeting were duly read and confirmed. DEDICATION OF ROAD. Mr H. Y. Collins waited upon the Board with reference to the construction of a road on the property recently subdivided by Mr G. Bowden. He pointed out that some months ago he had written asking the Board to give him an estimate of the cost in order that he could lodge the necessary amount for the Board to proceed with the work of formation. —The Board resolved that provided sufficient funds be lodged to properly form the road and footpath in accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the supervisor, and that the necessary signatures be attached to the documents, the dedication be accepted. The new streets were named Carlton Street and Mandeno Street respectively. * TOWN SECTIONS. Mr A. Swarbrick wrote forwarding draft leases of various town sections. —After consideration the Board resolved that the various town sections be offered for lease by public auction for 66 years, with clauses for compensation for improvements at the expiration of the term or with the right of renewal for one further term at a revaluation. A condition to be made that purchasers of leases of sections TJ and 78, 79 and 80 (in" Bank Street) erect buildings not less than £3OO in value; section 76 (also in Bank Street) of £250; on sections 136, 137 and 138 (old tennis courts) of £SOO. Should any group of sections be held by the one lessee, the value of buildings to be of the full value stated for each section. The upset annual rental was fixed at: section 76, 25s ; 77 and 78, 50s ; 79 and 80, 50s ; and 136, 137, and 138, £5. The leases are to be drawn up and the sale will take place at an early date, of which due notice will be given in our columns.

BRICK AREA. Ihe necessary by-law was forwarded by Mr Swarbrick. It was decided that the Brick Area extend along both sides .of the streets within the boundaries defined —from Redoubt Street along Sloane Street and Alexandra Street to Mutu Street; Arawhata Street from Alexandra Street to Mahoe Street; Roache Street, from Herbert Street to Mahoe Street; Bank Street, from Alexandra Street to Herbert Street; Teasdale Street, from Alexandra Street to section 73, Teasdale Estate. This by-law will apply to business premises only, and will come into force at a date lo be notified later.
