LAWN TENNIS.

At a meeting of the Committee of the Te Awamutu Lawn Tennis Club held on Tuesday, the secretary announced that trophies had been presented by Mr and Mrs J. Jackson, for competition by club members. These trophies are to be competed for annually (championship singles), each winner retaining possession for one year, the trophies to remain the property of the club until won 3 times by any one member.

The official opening of the Te Awamutu Lawn Tennis Club will be held on Wednesday, 22nd inst. The court will be officially opened and play commenced by the holding of a progressive tournament. The opening ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. and the committee invite all enthusiasts and supporters to be present. The new courts at Victoria Park are being greatly improved and brought into playing order, and with club members working regularly, should be in splendid order by the time of the opening.
