In addition io the monster programme advertised to be shown at the Te Awamutu Town Hail by the Empire Picture Company to-night, the management will include the famed spectacular coloured drama " Foe to Richelieu " which has been such a gigantic success in the cities recently. In a recent issue of " Munsey " there is a most touching poem entitled "Hullo Bill " of how Jack and Bill when small boys used to brighten each other's existence with"hullos" through the telephone, and how this was kept up all through life right on to tottering old age, till jack slipped away to the Great Beyond and left Bill, who was now long over the " allotted spanf- waiting and longing for his " time " to come. It is very touching, but it is somewhat before its time, and the effect is quite spoiled when it is remembered that' it is only 35 years ago (in 1876) that the first telephone (except of course the jam tins and bit of string) was constructed by Professor Bell, who a few weeks ago was in our midst partly on holiday bent, but more particularly to report on some of our gold-bearing country.
