CRICKET DANCE AT TE AWAMUTU.

A most enjoyable plain and fancy dance was held in the local Town Hall last evening. The function was arranged by members of the local Cricket Club and formed a fitting entertainment for the many visitors who had been present at the match that afternoon at Victoria Park. A committee, with Mr J. H. Ansell as secretary, was directly responsible for the arrangements and the greatest praise is due for the manner in which the programme was carried out. About 60 couple were present. The Hall was suitably decorated with bunting and greenery and presented very artistic appearance. Dancing was commenced at about 8 p.m. and kept up until the early hours. The supper provided was greatly appreciated and throughout the whole of the arrangements reflected the greatest credit upon those responsible. The prizes for fancy costumes were awarded to Miss L. Clements (Carnival), and Mr Peate (Arab). Amongst the other fancy costumes we

noticed :—Misses F. Mandeno (Faith, Hope, and Charity), McGivern (Sailor), Lea (Mavoureen), Clark (Yachting Girl), Keenan (Molly Malone), Skethley (Japanese), C. Kirkham (Red RidingHood), Hudner (Quakeress), Mrs Birch (Gipsy). Messrs J. H. Ansell and J. Teddy were the M's.C. for the evening.
