LOCAL AND GENERAL.
The Princess Pictures showing at the Town Hall on Friday next come highly recommended by the press of the towns where exhibitions have been given.
A foreigner who was a witness in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington the other day was asked if he would swear a certain thing. “ Vat ?” he asked. “ Will you swear it?” “Yes; I vill svear anything,” he answered.
The residents of Te Awamutu and district who made use of Mr A. P. Hyde’s last visit will be pleased to hear he has arrived again and just opened up in Jackson’s Sample Rooms for a week with all new goods. Amongst other materials is a fine display of grass linen ware which is a triumph in Oriental skill and easily eclipses any previously shown in New Zealand. Those requiring dresses or laces will do well to pay Mr Hyde a visit, there being a splendid range to pick from. In fact it will be an education to anyone to visit this display.
