TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the office of the Board on Thursday, August lOth. There were present: Messrs Bowden (chairman), A. Wallace, S. Mathews and G. H. White. WATER SUPPLY PROPOSALS. The report of Mr Chenery Suggate as published in another column was read. A ratepayer wrote suggesting as an alternative that a tower be erected, and furnished a report relative to his proposal. This report will appear in our issue of Tuesday next. After considerable discussion it was decided to consider both proposals at a public meeting to be held on Wednesday, 23rd inst. BAND ROTUNDA. Mr H. F. Edgecumbe submitted a draft plan of the proposed building as drawn up by Mr Warren, architect. —It was decided to get subscription lists out at once. WALTON STREET. Mr J. L. Mandeno again wrote complaining of the obstruction in Walton Street, and asked that the building be removed at once. —lt was decided to write notifying the owner that the building must be removed within two weeks. TOWN BOARD. Mr W. North wrote apologising for non-attendance on account of ill-health. —It was decided that leave of absence be granted. T. E. TAYLOR MEMORIAL FUND. Application was made for donations for the above fund. —The letter was received and is to be seen at the Town Clerk’s office.

DEDICATION- OF ROAD. Mr H. Y. Collins wrote regarding dedication of road on properte of G. A. Bowhen and Mr Raikes, so as to complete the transactions in connection with the cutting up of the sections.-—lt was decided to write to Mr Collins asking him to get the other property-owners interested to pay their proportion of the cost of completing the private road up to Mr North’s. CEMETERY RESERVE.

Mr A. Swarbrick wrote stating that the cemetery reserve in the Teasdale Estate was gazetted in the Town Board as trustees, and suggested that a transfer be arranged. TOWN SECTIONS. The Clerk reported that the titles were now being obtained. MANGAHOE BRIDGE. The chairman reported that the County Council had decided to erect the above bridge in concrete the plans to be prepared and the work put in hand at once.

TEASDALE SETTLEMENT ROADS

Plans are to be prepared at once for this work in connection with the £2OO grant.

PUNIU BRIDGE,

It was decided to ask a Minister of the Crown to declare the bridge open for traffic, and to bring under his notice the fact that the land on the far side from Te Awamutu is unoccupied (except for the noxious weeds and rabbits) and asks that steps be taken for its settlement. ALEXANDRA STREET FOOTPATH It was decided to form the footpath to the proper level in Alexandra Street in front of Bockett’s Municipal Buildings. The following accounts were passed for payment: —C. By grave (sanitary account), £l4, Park roadpath, £ls (subject to approval), sanding account £5 6s 6d; Souter & Co., 19s 3d ; Waipa Post £2 3s ; G. Paul, £2 16s ; C. Smedley (hall caretaker), £lO 17s 6d, street lighting, £3 16s ; C. F. Battson, £6 Os 6d (subject to approval); W. J. North, £22 17s 6d ; Goodfellow Ltd., £1 5s 6d; Hammond & Co., £3 19s 8d ; Gillespie and Son, £5 17s ; J. Crook, 6s 3d.
