TE AWAMUTU V. KIHIKIHI SCHOOL BOYS’ MATCH.

The Kihikihi boys visited Te

Awamutu and met a team from the local school at Victoria Park r on Saturday afternoon. The game throughout was fairly even. For the first 'half no score was made, although at several stages of the game both teams seemed very near crossing the line. It was not until well on in the second half that a score was secured when by a very brilliant rush Walter Middlebrook gained first honour for his team. A welldirected kick by Tai further added to the score. Both teams attacked vigorously, and for a considerable time the play was both fast and exciting. The game closed with the scores: — Te Awamutu 5 Kihikihi ’ 0 Mr W. Teddy made an efficient referee.

TE AWAMUTU JUNIORS V. OHAUPOJUNIORS. The above match was played at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon. The weather was fine for the greater part of the game, one shower falling towards the -close of the afternoon. Both teams took the field with full strength at 3.30 p.m., and Spragg kicked off for Te Awamutu. In the firs£4pell play was in favour of the Te Awamutu players but no score was made. The second spell saw a similar class of play. The Ohaupo backs were defending well, and although Te Awamutu on several occasions seemed about to score, their efforts just fiyled to achieve the desired result. Half time found the game with no score to either team. In the third spell Ohaupo had , the best of it and kept the local players hard pressed. After a brilliant rush Forkett crossed the line and drew first blood for his team. This was converted by Bartles. K Ohaupo 5 Te Awamutu ... 0

The last spell was all in favour of Te Awamctu and hard luck only prevented them from scoring. They forced Ohaupo repeatedly and on several, occasions seemed certain of crossing the line. The final whistle sounded with play in the Ohaupo 25, and the scores as above. Mr S. H. West acted as referee, and gave every satisfaction to all players. The mosr noticeable feature of the game was the amount ot offside play. Members of both teams should have been frequently penalised in this direction, but the offence was committed so frequently that there would have been no game at all had the referee been strict.

Before leaving for Ohaupo the visitors were entertained at dinner by the local team.
