Great diversity of opinion exists as to whether "home separation" of cream from milk is a step back to more primitive methods or an advance upon the "present "creamery system," Members of the Literary and Debating Society bravely attempted to solve the problem last Tuesday" evening. Mr G. McGhie defended the creamery system and M. O. Price Owen upheld home separation. Although innumerable advantage by both sides were eloquently dealt with, and weak points enlarged |upon by the leading speakers, no marked success rewarded their efforts. At the conclusion of the debate the "count" showed a majority of one in favour of the present creamery system. Strong

in support of their respective sides, speakers were inclined to be rather heated, and Mrs McCardle is to be congratulated upon her excellent execution of the duties of the chair.
