WEDDING BELLS.
EVELEIGH—BATE
A very pretty wedding took place in St. Bride's Church, Otorohanga, on Wednesday morning, the contracting parties being Mr W. Eveleigh and Miss Emily Bate, sister-in-law of Mr Kidson, postmaster. Rev. E. S. Wayne, assisted by his curate, Mr W. Piggott, performed the ceremony. Mr Bate, the venerable father of the bride, gave her away, and she was attended by three bridesmaids—Miss Ivy Bate (the bride's sister), Miss Ivy Biggs (the bridegroom's niece), and Miss Grace Kidson (the bride's niece). The bride was dressed in a charming gown of ivory chiffon taffeta silk with a trained skirt trimmed with French knots. The blouse was trimmed with silk insertion and tiny tucks, the insertion being outlined with French knots, and a pretty spray of orange blossoms was worn across the corsage. A coronet of orange blossoms was worn in her hair, over which was the customary tulle veil, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of white azaleas, maiden blush roses, and asparagas fern. The two chief bridesmaids wore seablue silk dresses, trimmed very prettily with insertion and big black picture hats, and carried a bouquet of pink button-hole roses and white azaleas. Mr Eveleigh was attended by Mr H. Burchill as best man and MiBert Clarke as groomsman. The church had been nicely decorated for the occasion, the guests' seats being ornamented with white ribbon. After the ceremony the happy pair drove to Mrs Kidson's residence where a dainty breakfast had been provided for the guestj. After the customary toasts had been honored the happy pair caught the northward bound express, amid showers of rice and confetti, en route to Auckland from whence we believe they intend paying a visit to Fiji. Mrs Eveleigh travelled in a dark green costume with a green hat to match. Mr and Mrs Eveleigh were the recipients of many useful and valuable presents, including a set of furs front the groom's mother.
