AUCKLAND V. TE AWAMUTU

The Auckland representative team visited Te Awamutu on Thursday and met the local team in the Victoria Park that afternoon. The weather prevented a large number of spectators from being present but in spite of the frequent showers a most enthusiastic number of supporters were present. At 3 p.m Ryder (Te Awamutu) and Baker (Auckland) bullied off. The game was then continued in s earnest, both teams showingsome very fast play.. Half time found the scores Auckland 3 Te Awamutu ... 0 On resuming the game the play continued eq-tally as fast. The Auckland team secured two more goals and the final whistle found the scores Auckland 5 Te Awamutu ... 0 Throughout the game one could not but comment on the friendly spirit of the players of both teams. The visitors were entertained at dinner at the Te Awamutu Hotel. Speeches were given by Messrs Baker, Norton, and Mason on behalf of the visitors, and Messrs Empson, Cox and McGovern, who welcomed them to Te Awamutu. The visitors left by the Main Trunk express this'morning, one and all loud in their praises of the hospitality of Te Awamutu residents and of the sportsmanlike manner of the Te Awamutu hockey players.
