With the object of testing the qualities of New Zealand meat after a long period of cool storage, Mr W. D. Lysnar, of Gisborne, had a sheep killed in November last and kept in the freezing chamber until the other day, when it 'was removed and the meat distributed amongst a few friends. The meat came out of the cool store after seven months' storage, with the bloom still beautifully fresh on it, and even after being kept hanging for three clays it was still in splendid condition. When it was cooked it proved excellently juicy and tender, and no one without a prior knowledge would have been able to ten mat it nan been frozen. The test was made with the obit-el of showing thai it was quite possible to hold stocks of frozen mutton in store in New Zealand, with the object of regulating supplies to the Home market.
