BAND OF HOPE.
The monthly meeting of the Band of Hope was held last evening in the Town Hall. There was a good attendance of parents and children. The Rev. W. Woollass presided, and gave a short address on the evils of strong drink, and urged the boys to keep their pledges add the parents to vote for the closing of the open bar. The following programme was rendered, all the items being given by the children, who acquitted themselves remarkably well: Pianoforte selection. Miss Kathleen Galbraith; song, " Jack and Jill," three little girls; recitation, "Three Little Ducks," Miss Frankie Charlton; > recitation, "Whatthe Flower saicV' Miss Virgie Kimber ; song, " Storm and Sunshine," six girls; dialogue/' A Thinker and a Drinker" Masters Clotworthy and Groves ; recitation, Miss Winnie Stewart; recitation, " When Father wa-s a Boy," Master W. Groves ; song, " Jack Horner," three little girls ; recitation, " A Drunkard's Wife," Miss Hilda Hutt; duet, " Won't You Buy My Pretty Flowers," Misses Heerclegen and Irvine, recitation, " Mamma's Favourite," Miss Jean Irvine ; recitation, "A True Story," Miss Ruby Hutt; song, " Massa's in the Cold Ground," six girls. The meeting was closed in the usual way.
