Mr Wilson and Miss Kirk, of Auckland, paid a visit to this district on Wednesday, and assisted at a social promoted to raise funds, towards the building of a new hall. The attendance was exceptionally good, settlers and visitors from all parts of the district being present. During the evening songs were contributed by Miss Kirk and Mr E. Tames, both of whom were very T avoidably received. Mr Wilson was loudly applauded after rendering a humorous sketch dealing with prison characters. Dancing \
as the main feature of the evenin & was greatly enjoyed, which was shown by the number continually on the floor. Supper was provided by the ladies, which in no small degree contributed to the evening.
