MANGAPIKO.

(Own Correspondent.) On Thursday, May 4th, Mr " Spragg, managing director of the New Zealand Dairy Association, met the suppliers of the Manga piko Creamery. There was a full attendance, Mr Johnston occupying the chair. Mr Spragg spoke for over an hour on various subjects of interest to dairy farmers, and his statement, that in the x near future the company would be prepared to purchase the skim milk for the purpose of manufacturing dry casein e, aroused con- .: siderable interest. It appears that this substance is used as glazing for the better qualities of paper, and also in the manufacture of combs, knife handles, buttons, etc., etc. At the end of his address, Mr Spragg invited questions, and for perhaps the first time in his long business career he was completely nonplussed by a question put to him by Mr Matthews. However, the chairman came to his assistance, -3= and the question was satisfactorily answered. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Spragg and a like compliment to the chair - closed a very interesting and instructive address.

The milk supply is now so small that the creamery will be closed at an early date. One hundred new books have just arrived at our Library. This will bring the total number of books to somewhat over one thousand,
