THE TERRITORIALS.

SHOOTING COMPETITION AT PIRONGIA.

Some time ago a Cup was presented to the C Squadron, 2nd Regiment, A. M. R., by Miss Miller, to be competed for by members of the various troops of the squadron. This competition was arranged by the Firing Committee, and took place on the Pirongia Rifle Range on Friday. Owing to the visit of General Goclley to Hamilton the officers commanding the squadron were unable to be present. There were 24 competitors, all of whom took a great interest in the competition and throughout the shooting was of a very creditable nature. Seven rounds were fired—at 200 and 500 yard ranges respectively. The results arc :

Private B. Symes (10) with 62 points ... v I Private R. Dumbell (10) with 62 points ... 2 Private G. McDonald (scr) with 61 points 3 Sergeant R. Kewish (scr) with 57 Points ... ... ...• 4 In the evening a social was held in the Public Hall, Pirongia, at which the Cup was duly presented to the winner by Miss Miller. During the evening songs were rendered by Mrs E. I. Miller, Messrs R. Parker and J. Kay. Dancing was kept up until the early hours, the party finally dispersing after having spent a very enjoyable evening.
