Mr A. E. Jull, M.P., left for Wellington last evening to attend the Opposition caucus. Ihe Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Health, is visiting New Plymouth, where to-day he opened the Hospital Boards’ Conference. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Galway, will pass through AVaipawa next Wednesday on his way to \\ airoa, where he is to attend a Masonic function on Thursday evening. Messrs AY. H. Rathbone (chairman) and P. R. Smvrk (secretary) of the AVaipawa Hospital Board, are representing the Board at the conference of the Hospital Boards’ Association at New Plymouth. The engagement is announced of Muriel Rhoda, eldest daughter of Captain A. A T . and Mrs Baker, of Khandallah, to Richard Ainslie, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. K. Barber, of Ngaio. Constable Moss commences a month’s holiday leave next Monday, and during his absenee Constable Ruston, of Onga Onga, will be in charge of this district. Mr and Mrs Moss purpose making a motor tour of the South Island. The death took place on Monday morning in a private hospital at AYanganui of Mr AY. Johnstone, a very old resident of Hawke’s Bay. Bom in Napier 70 years ago he served his apprenticeship as a coach builder and subsequently entered into business with Mr AAV Frame at Dannevirke. Later he became licensee of the Porangahnn Hotel, and afterwards was in business at AYaipukurau. During his residence in this district lie took an active interest in Incal government work.
