RETURNED SOLDIERS’ TOURNEY. Next week-end returned soldier bowlers from all parts of the province will assemble at Waipawa for the purpose of participating in a tournament which it is hoped to make an annual event. The Sports Club have placed the green at their disposal for the day. Indications point to a full entry. CHAMPION FOURS TOURNEY. Owing to the rain on Thursday and Friday the commencement of the Champion Fours tourney of the Hawke’s Bay Bowling Centre, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed for a week, which will mean a week’s alteration in all the championship events. Additional champion four rinks are as follow:—Bluff Hill.—Dunn, Holt, Webley, McLennan. Port. —Johnston, Mayo, Dykes, Poppelwell. Kia Toa. —Arkens, Lassen, Graham, Burge. Heretaunga.—Dixon, Collinge, Jenkinson, Rowlands. Wairere.—Williams, Allen, Dadson, Wray. Waipukurau. Taylor, Bradley, Richards, Haldane. BREWER BUTTONS. After a week’s spell owing to climatic conditions bowling was resumed on the local green over the week-end. The green was both soft and heavy, and was really not fit for play. In spite of this, however, a number of competition games were got off. Another match for the Brewer Buttons was decided, the holders, Russell .and Petherick, going down to Haldane and Davy by 10 to 12. There are several challenges on the board, and the competition is arousing a considerable amount of interest.
