PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr and Mrs G. Taylor left by motor to-day en route to Dunedin on a holiday visit. Miss Jean Batten will leave London in March to lecture at Stockholm, Gothenberg, Copenhagen and Lille. Mr Ron. McDonald, Anaroa, will be included in the Waipawa contingent to attend the returned soldiers’ gathering at the sesqui-centennial celebrations in Sydney. During the absence of Mr G. Taylor on leave Mr C. H. Vincent, of the head office staff, is acting as manager of the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand. At to-day’s meeting of the Education Board in Napier a letter was received from the secretary of the Central H.B. branch of the N.Z.E.I. expressing the appreciation of the teachers of Central Hawke’s Bay of the services of Mr Hurdsfield, agricultural instructor, and also the thanks of the teachers to the Board for the encouragement given to the instructor and his addresses to the branch.
