Brigadore’s showing at Awapuni on Saturday last was the only disappointment among the National horses, hut he is a horse who quickly improves, and he did well at Riccarton last year. The racing at Awapuni last Saturday showed why Celerrimus had Slippery all out to beat her at Hastings. Celerrimus had improved a lot since last seen a month earlier, when she won her maiden heat in modest style, but Slippery is not so good as he was before his spell. If T)ozie had performed at all well in the Manawatu Hunt Cup on Saturday last her owner-trainer, Mr C. E. Twist, would probably have taken her down to Ricearton for the Aral days, hut her effort lost her the trip. Mr Twist did not enter Prosy Boy for the south, as he considers he requires more seasoning.
