Takapau Riding.—lsaacson has almost finished his contract on the Fair-fleld-Takapau road and Verran’s plant baa gone to the Otawhao jobs, but there is little chance of them doing any metalling until the weather settles. I have tenders closing to-day for two of the new works authorised in this riding, but I have not had time in three weeks’ space to do the Oruawhoro eontraet. In reference to the new road at Rangitoto, I have laid off the work on the present survey line but I am convinced that the attempt to get a road on the present line is a mistake, as the maintenance of this road will be enormous. It should be deviated, as a very much better line is to be had. In Sanders’ road I had to stop some distance back from the railway as I have no data to work on from the Railway Department as to the height of the proposed overhead bridge. There is some patching required on the main road towards Waipukurau. I have nothing of importance to report on in the Wakarara riding. W. H. HOBIN. Waipawa: Experimental patch of the main road to be ploughed and harrowed, and reformed. Ruataniwha: Tenders to be called for repairs to road from Rood’s corner to the river. Other recommendations adopted. Onga: Blackburn-Ridge road to be patched. Township road to be screened with metal. Dalgety and Co. to be asked to assist in preventing creek overflowing. Clinton: Patching to be done on road from C. Cook’s to Morton’s, also from Smith’s to Takapau. Takapau: Re the suggested deviation at Rangitoto the chairman, and Crs. Cook and Paulsen were appointed to interview the owner of the propetry. Patching on Waipukurau road authorised. Department to be written to re Sanders ’ road. TENDERS. '
