TIKOKINO DOG TRIALS
The sixth annual gathering of the Tikokino Dog Trial Club opened yesterday on ground placed at the disposal of the cornamount of intelligencea lmost human Mathews. There was a good attendance of onlookers, who took a keen interest in the work of the competing dogs, some of which displayed an mittee by Messrs J. and R. in carrying out the instructions of their masters. The arrangements for the trials were in the capable hands of Mr B. Douglas, and he is to be congratulated on the smooth running of the gathering. He was ably assisted by Messrs J. Mathews and H. Sebley (timekeeper), and through their efforts competitors were kept up to the mark, thus avoiding any delay between the contests.
The entries were large, there being 34 in Class 1., 35 in Class 11., and 29 in Class 111. The judging was in the hands of Mr W. A. Maefarlane (Maraekakaho) whose decisions appeared to give general satisfaction. The whole of the proceeds, of the gathering are to be handed to the Wounded fjoldiers’ Fund, which, together with the sums realised by the sale of two sheep given by Mr R. Douglas, one by Messrs Mathews Bros., and a sheep dog pup presented by Mr Pettigrew, should bring in a substantial addition to the fund. !
