WAIPAWA CLUB’S OPENING. About forty enthusiasts turned out for the opening l fixture of the local links yesterday, when a mixed foursome handicap was played. The day was fine, and the greens proved to be in excellent trim, thanks to Mr Hay, who in the short time he has had the course in hand has worked wonders, both visitors and members being loud in their praises. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies and was much appreciated. The following are the six best cards handed in, a tie resulting for first place:—

The two best gross scores returned were— Mrs Harper and James .. .. 8!) Miss Limbrick and Oliver .. .. 92 Members are particularly requested to enter their names for the club competitions posted at the club-house, to enable the secretary to prepare the season’s programme.
