RUSSIANS TO ASSIST. AN ARMY LANDED AT MARSEILLES. PARIS, April 21. A strong; force of Russian troops lias disembarked at Marseilles to join the Allies on the French front. France is ringing with the news (hat the Russians have landed. There was indescribable enthusiasm at Marseilles, surpassing, that on the arrival /»f the Indians. The streets were bcllagged and the whole population turned out to cheer the troops marching from the docks to special camps. There have been rumors in France for some time that storms had delayed their arrival. The presence of Rushans side by side 'with French poilus will have an enormous moral effect on the civil population and the army. The Russian equipment is complete, including a special kitchen copper for cooking thick vegetable soup, their staple diet. CONFIRMATION. JOFFRE’S APPRECIATION. (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) PARIS, April 21. „ General Joffrc, in an order of the day, says:— “Russia, as a further pledge of her devotion, has chosen some of her bravest soldiers to come and tight in our ranks.” He invites the army to cordially welcome them.
