Hockey.

The official openiog of the newly formed Hookey Club took place ysila. day afternoon, when a matoh n played between mixed teams (the gentle, men playing in skirts), captained by ill Chilwell (reds) and Mr J. N. Bim (whites). Miss Bloom played full bill for the whites and Miss Nelson for tk reds, Misses Merryloes and Scott play, ing bully. Tho match, which was rathe exciting at times, ended in favour ol Ik reds by 2 goals to 1. Goals were gJ by Messrs Staines and Chilwell for tin reds and Mr Stoddart for tho whim Mr Grenfell acted as referee. From spectator’s point of view more combiut tion is wanted and not so much of lbt individual as was noticed yesterday 1 number of penalties were also given it stick-play, whioh some of the msroben would do well to study. There ii lie making of a good team amongst thou who were out yesterday, and with pro tice and more study of the game ibij will be able to give a good aoconnt of themselves gainst outside teams.
