THE STOCK MARKET. At Waverley, yesterday, a fair entry of cattle came forward and nearly all were sold. At Wanganui a large lot of useful cattle were yarded. Bidding waa fairly brisk, resulting in the disposal of the lot with the exception of two pens. All were sold at current rates. Pigs also sold well. Cattle—At Waverley—Springing heif ers £2 8s to £4 ss, steers £1 18s to £2 12- 61, yearlings 20a. At St Hill Street —Forward bollocks £4, well grown bnl locks £3 7s, 3 years old sheers £2 18a 91, 2 year olds £2 si, oows £1 14s 61 to £2 4s, heifers 35a to 50s, yearlings 28a to 37s 6d. Sheep—At Waverley—Hoggets 8b to 10a 9.1, old ewes and lam»8 5a Bd. At Wunganai—Fat ewes 8a 91, hoggets 8a 41 to 8a 7d, dry ewes 6s 61, old ewes ss, fat lambs ss. Pigs—At Waverley—Small pigs 8s 9d. At Wanganui—Baconers 30a to 40s, porkers 16a to 19a, largo pork 22« to 255, youog pigs, 7a fid to 12a, suckers 3s 9d to ss. Poultry—Fowls 3* 9d to 4s 6d, dnoka 3a to 3a 61, turkeys 7a to 9a the couple. At Palmerston, on Thorsday, the entries comprised some 1500 sheep and 250 head of oattle. The sheep included a large number of fat ewes from medium to extra prime. Prices for fat sheep receded considerably, and tbe improvement mani fasted during the last few weeks was not maintained. Vendors were unwilling to accept reduced offers, and most of the fat sheep were turned out unsold. Grown buliooks improved in value, but young cattle were not in demand, and prices recedod accordingly. For dairy heifers of good quality and close to profit the demand was spirited, and a good olearanee was expeoted. Quotations Sheep—Fat owes in wool 9a 6d, shorn 5a 81, forward ewes 7s 61, hoggets 6s 3.) to Bs.
